Editorial Consultations

Picture
An editorial consultation is the chance to get some input and feedback on your work in progress.

What you'll get from an editorial consultation with Penny Reeve:
Feedback, comments and suggestions to improve your work in progress. This can include:
  • a structural edit (looking at flow and plot direction),
  • comments on content/ age bracket suitability,
  • strengths and weaknesses of existing text,
  • general feedback on writing style, genre etc
  • suggestions for improvement before submission to a publisher,
  • etc

What you wont get:
Copy-editing, proof-reading (picking up every little grammatical/spelling error etc). If this is what you need feel free to ask Penny for some suggested contacts.
You also will not get immediate feedback. Penny gives first priority to her own writing (and family) so sometimes there is a lag between when you send in your manuscript and when it will be ready. If the wait is longer than a couple of weeks she'll get in touch to let you know.

How much will it cost?
That's up to you!
Penny's rates are based on an initial $60 per hour, this includes reading and time to comment and make suggestions. If your manuscript requires more than 1 hour, and you are satisfied with the style of feedback received after this first hour, Penny will prepare a quote for the remainder of the manuscript, or the extent to which you'd like her to review.
